An American Idol once said that In the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes!
The future is now!
I think this statement displays a profound awareness of human nature and is both a reflection and prediction central to the ideologies of the pop art movement
In turn this passage inspired me to better understand humanity in the present world by trying to find out how Andys quote was relevant today. I soon began focusing on peoples insatiable relationship with the media. I needed to find the essence of fame in todays culture and then find a way to cleverly and succinctly depict it.
My research had many focuses including advertising, photography, print, viral, word of mouth, television and of course web but my main focus areas soon became reality TV and the internet. From there I took an idea and found appropriate and specific examples that I thought would best convey my message.
To get a good understanding of the way Warhol thought I was forced to look closely at the inherent beauty within the subject matter, of things we see every day and pay little attention to. By harnessing the existing power of the chosen logos and reapplying them to Warhols saying I was then able to add validity to Andys words
well done.
